After a path of great discoveries and scientific revolutions, the world stopped revolving around religion, God, to revolve around the human being, who, faced with the plurality of thoughts, theories and possibilities, "was lost" in the sense of its own existence. "It emptied itself". And not enough, it led Philosophy to a “collapse”, conditioning it to a fragmented vision that was more adequate to the standards of the techniques. This work intends, from the reading of Richard Tarnas and Alain Touraine, in particular, of the works Epic of Western Thought and The Critique of Modernity, respectively, to point out the importance of Philosophy for the resumption of the meaning of the subject's existence as a social agent . Researches show that to overcome the “crisis” that has taken place in Western culture, human beings must look at themselves, seeking to reflect reality from the whole and not from a unilateral vision. A philosophy embodied in reality must be conceived, which seeks social transformation and helps human beings in the process of integral development.
