Abstract

The researcher and professor, Dr. Susana Sosenski, is currently one of the main names and references regarding historical studies on infancy and children in Latin America throughout the 20th century. Professor Susana Sosenski is a researcher at the Historical Research Institute of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). The interviewee has a doctorate in History from the Colegio de México. He graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of UNAM. His research topics allude to child protagonism, sociabilities, work and children's consumption. The researcher was awarded in 2008 by the Mexican Academy of Sciences with the best doctoral thesis in social sciences and humanities. In 2006 she was also awarded by the Mexican Committee of Historical Sciences with the Best Article of the 20th Century, entitled "Unhealthy Diversions: cinema and childhood in Mexico City in the 1920s". Susana is the author of an immense academic production, including articles and books. Among his published books, we can highlight “Children in action. Child labor in Mexico City (1920-1934)” and “Robachicos: history of child kidnapping in Mexico (1900-1960). Professor Susana agreed to answer the questions in the form of an interview, in which she discussed her academic career and pointed out important theoretical references for her training. Susana also responded to her current topics of interest and brought important contributions on the historiography of childhood, source challenges, children's consumption, and social policies for children and youth in Latin America.
