Philosophical Assumptions to Use Spirituality as a Category of Education Analysis

The present work consists of the final report of the research carried out through PIBIC (Institutional Program of Scientific Initiation Scholarships), from 2019 to 2020, at Department of Education Foundation of the Universidade Federal da Paraíba. The research work plan has as its object the concept of integrality in the work of Professor Ferdinand Röhr (2013). The general objective of the plan is to understand how integrality is placed as a precondition for using spirituality as a category of analysis of education. We use philosophical hermeneutics as an appropriate method of investigation and interpretation of the theme under analysis (GADAMER, 2015), especially the works of Professor Ferdinand Röhr: “Dialogues in education and spirituality (2010)” and “Education and spirituality: contributions to a multidimensional understanding of reality, man and education (2013)”. The association of the educational task with spirituality starts from the assumption that education can be a path that leads the subjects involved towards integral human formation. Spirituality as a category of analysis of education is carried out through the principle of trust between educator and student.
