Amerindian perspectivism – a concept incused by Viveiros de Castro – translates the idea, common to some Amazonian peoples, that all non-human animals were once and/or still are human-animals; indeed, not only are animals “virtually” human, but also spirits, meteorological phenomena, trees and mountains, etc. Therefore, humanity is the common condition shared by all beings. In this sense, this paper aims to place this notion beyond the contours of humanism, insofar as Amerindian perspectivism intends to be a thought that breaks with the humanist metaphysical tradition. For this, we will use the philosophy of Gilles Deleuze as a theoretical instrument, an explicit reference to Viveiros de Castro.
