Abstract

The text “Presentation – Indigenous Histories and Indigenism: (Re)readings of Historical Experiences in Latin America II”, by Ayalla Oliveira Silva and Karina Moreira Ribeiro da Silva e Melo, introduces the second volume of the thematic dossier published by the Revista História Unicap. This edition continues the historiographical debate on indigenous peoples and indigenism in Latin America, emphasizing decolonial, interdisciplinary perspectives committed to epistemic justice. The collection of articles spans from the colonial period to the contemporary era, exploring themes such as territoriality, indigenous higher education, biographies, Pombaline policies, indigenous agency and resistance, and the national imaginary about the “Indian”. The presentation highlights the methodological diversity and the dialogue between indigenous and non-indigenous authors, demonstrating the strengthening of research on the protagonism and re-existence of native peoples. Among the studies discussed, highlights include analyses of the Pombaline Directory and the 1850 Land Law, the role of SPILTN, the training of Fulni-ô teachers, political mobilizations in the Northeast, and biographical representations of indigenous women. The dossier also incorporates reflections on the contemporary thought of Ailton Krenak and on the colonial imaginary in Brazilian educational practices, as well as a free article on the Northeast Science Teaching Center (CECINE) and its relevance in the history of science education.
