This article pays tribute to the poet, singer and composer Zé Vicente, based on the selection of three lyrics that represent his entire work, which will serve as a bridge for reflection. It proposes to present, following the documentary bibliographic method, the bridge built by Poetry and Prophecy contained in Zé Vicente's songs that encourage and sustain the mission and commitment of the Ecclesial Base Communities as a locus theologicus in the defense of life in a context of intolerance, discrimination and hatred. The prophecy, poetry and spirituality contained in Zé Vicente's songs, based on the various Brazilian rhythms that the artist incorporated into his composition process, show the current way in which he interacts with the reality around him. Utopia and hope are deep marks of those who hunger for truth and beauty; they are present in his work. Just like Literature, Zé Vicente's work takes a stand on the reality of life, of society, in the face of suffering and oppression, pointing out ways out. The lyrics of his songs are prayers filled with missionary zeal and evangelical aesthetics. They sprout from the framework of biblical narratives, blossom and grow in the hearts of those who follow in the footsteps of the Master of Nazareth. Zé Vicente makes his lyrics an art of words, an artistic manifestation, characterized by the predominance of the poetic and prophetic function; in his lyrics, the author expresses and exposes his deepest and most intimate thoughts, therefore, full of tenderness and commitment.
