Between the pen and the sword: Foucault and the Science of Strategy

The aim of the present paper is to expose some similarities and differences between Foucault, very famous, the French general, André Beaufre, Strategy theoretician, and the notion of National Power, as it is found in some theoretical material of Brazilian military. First, some of Foucault conceptions are exposed, specially those who ink themselves with the question of the political power and notions akin to the Military Science's development. After, it’s general André Beaufre time of being judged by us, as we compare him with Clausewitz and Liddell Hart, Strategy’s theoreticians as him. After, the notion of National Power ´s exposed. Finally, we make a balance of the possible intersection between the three exposés.
