PRACTICAL WISDOM IN CORDEL LITERATURE

The phronesis from northeastern poets, that is possible to find in some productions of Cordel
Literature, is now at television media. It had been come from Iberian peninsula, but in Northeast
brazilian has survived. By the historical scientific method, this article aims to find in Cordel
Literature a different style of application the Practical Wisdom which has been in humanity from long time ago. Some christian people, by the divine gift, reach the attention of a great number
of people who are delighted with their poems sometimes narrated, sometimes sung in small
towns. Such style, generally in special language without grammatical rules transmit also,
among other themes, the Word of God. Taking just one cordel as an example, we can see not
only the narratives from Sacred Scripture in this literature, but also an accessible catechesis
for simple people who has primitive religiosity but strong spirituality. The author reveals to have
Practical Wisdom in connection with biblical texts. We infer that it is a kind of literature of great
relevance for the approach with simple people.
