HEARER OF THE WORD: ON THE FIRST CHAPTER OF KARL RAHNER'S WORK

Abstract

Hearer of the Word, Hörer des Wortes, is the result of the collection of fifteen conferences, in a single volume, of the University Week in Sazburg, carried out by Karl Rahner. The purpose of the lessons was to ground the Philosophy of Religion. The title of the work, a biblical expression meaning the position of the human being before the Revelation of God, summarizes the content of the work. It is a philosophical-religious synthesis faithful to Thomist thought – where philosophy, in the strict sense, is the natural consciousness of God and religion –, but focused on the principles of contemporary philosophy.
