Bible interpretation in the Church

We are celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Document of the Pontifical Biblical Commission, which was finalized on April 15, 1993, in French, but officially published in all modern languages on November 18, 1993. This topic was studied by the Biblical Commission between 1989 and 1993, when the text was finalized. On April 23, 1993, Pope John Paul II summoned the College of Cardinals resident in Rome, the diplomatic corps, the professors of the Pontifical Biblical Institute and the members of the Commission to a solemn audience to commemorate the centenary of the publication of Leo XIII's encyclical Providentissimus Deus (1893), the fiftieth anniversary of Pius XII's Divino Afflante Spiritu (1943) and to comment on the new document. On this occasion, the document "Interpretation of the Bible in the Church" was approved.
