La vieille morale kantienne, sans être pour autant caduque, s’avère néanmoinsinsuffisante pour la formation éthique des professeurs et des élèves. Elle doit
être complétée par un triple changement du regard. D’abord, l’éthique de la
sollicitude centrée sur les besoins d’autrui. Ensuite, aider chacun à sortir de
l’identité socialement prescrite et basée sur les oppositions de classe, de nations,
de religions, de races, afin d’affirmer son identité vécue subjectivement. Enfin,
apprendre à expliquer les difficultés vécues, voire les échecs subis, non seulement
par une explication causale externe (cela m’est arrivé parce que je suis noir,
pauvre, ou handicapé, etc.), mais aussi par un locus de contrôle interne.
