The objective of this essay is to reflect on the consequences of the perception of temporal acceleration in our daily lives. In this way, we launch a discussion on the alleged consolidation of a social project of present/future in which consumo (desire based on dissatisfaction) has gradually taken the place of utopia (a call for change), increasingly transforming the present of human beings into a space of immediate pleasures, while eliminating possibilities of horizons of expectation, making their lives “uninteresting”. As a time frame for the analysis, we will start from the historical context of the end of the Soviet Union (1991) and the supposed “victory” of the capitalist camp until the advancement of its political economy in our contemporary times based on the neoliberal reforms of the second decade of the 21st century in the world of work.
