RELIGIÃO E SUSTENTABILIDADE: MEIO AMBIENTE E QUALIDADE DE VIDA "Religion and sustainability: environment and quality of life"

Abstract

O presente trabalho estabelece a conexão entre as ideias religiosas e científicas a respeito da relação ser humano/natureza e seus efeitos sobre o meio ambiente. Partimos do pressuposto de que as antigas tradições religiosas e filosóficas representam uma fonte inesgotável de conhecimento para compreensão desta relação, bem como, para a determinação das ações humanas sobre o planeta. Argumentamos que todos teríamos muito a ganhar se os cientistas preocupados com a questão ambiental considerassem os ensinamentos ancestrais a respeito da relação ser humano/natureza para descobrir as razões pelas quais eles foram estabelecidos.

Abstract

This work deals with the connection between religious and scientific ideas, regarding the human being/nature relationship and its effects on the environment. The basic idea is that the old religious and philosophical traditions represent an inexhaustible source of knowledge for both comprehension of such relationship, and determination of the human action in the planet exploration, as well. The main argument is that there will be a gain for everyone if the scientists, who have concerns about the environment question tried to consider the ancestral civilizations teachings for understanding the relationship between human being and nature.
