Vol. 17 No. 40 (2026): REFLECTIONS AND PRACTICES IN THE INITIAL AND CONTINUING TRAINING OF PROFESSIONALS WORKING IN RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

The issue of religious education in Brazil has gained prominence and provoked considerable controversy in recent years. For several decades, a confessional understanding of religious education taught in schools predominated. With the pluralisation of the Brazilian religious field, the debate surrounding the adoption of religious education linked to Religious Studies has been gaining momentum in educational systems, legislation, resolutions and public policies. An example of this is the fact that in 2027 we shall celebrate the tenth anniversary of the BNCC (National Common Curricular Base) and, in 2028, the first decade of the Guidelines for the Degree in Religious Studies. Thus, this dossier aims to discuss initial and continuing training, as well as other aspects peculiar to professionals who deal with religious education on a daily basis.

Coordination: Dr. Sérgio Rogério de Azevedo Junqueira (UEPA), Dr. Aurenea Maria de Oliveira (UFPE) e Dr. Marcos Vinicius de Freitas Reis (UNIFAP).
