Derivation of the Subject-Gender-Spirit Syllogism that is Implicit in the Notion of Life in Hegel's Science of Logic

Abstract

This paper derives, from a categorial logic perspective, the syllogism subject-genus-spirit that is implicit in the logical result of the chapter Life and in the introduction to the chapter The Idea of Cognition, which belong to the Doctrine of Concept, third volume of Hegel's Science of Logic. The paper introduces the notion of sylogism of ideas and shows that the syllogism subject-genus-spirit as a syllogism of that type.

    Possui graduação em Engenharia Elétrica pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (1977), mestrado em Ciências da Computação pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (1980), e doutorado em Ciências da Computação pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (1993). Atualmente é doutorando em filosofia junto ao Programa de Pós-graduação em Filosofia da PUCRS.
