Churches, Christian Mission, and Other Religious Traditions in Light of Jacques Dupuis's Thinking

The article examines the theology of religions based on the thought of Jacques Dupuis, with special attention to the universality of the Kingdom of God and its implications for interreligious dialogue. The objective is to investigate how the kingdom-centric understanding proposed by Dupuis expands the insights of the declaration Nostra Aetate and contributes to rethinking the relationship between Christianity, other religious traditions, and the missionary action of churches. The research is methodologically developed through theological and critical hermeneutical analysis of documents from the Second Vatican Council, papal encyclicals, and Dupuis's texts, combining bibliographical review and systematic interpretation. The study follows four axes: (1) the conciliar paradigm shift regarding the relationship between Church and religions; (2) the ultimacy and universality of the Kingdom of God; (3) the relationship between the Kingdom of God, the Church, and religions; and (4) the implications of this approach for Christian mission. It is concluded that Dupuis's theology represents a decisive broadening of conciliar intuitions by shifting the Church's focus to the Kingdom of God, articulating the uniqueness of Christ with the multifaceted action of the Spirit in the various traditions. This interpretation grounds an interreligious dialogue centered on justice and cooperation, on the critique of elements that deviate from the kingdom of God, on the horizons of mysticism, and on the revision of Christian missionary perspectives.
