Transfiguration in reverse

One year after the death of the Jesuit professor, translator and biblical scholar, Father Johan Konings, it is necessary to preserve his memory and continue his legacy. His life was all dedicated to a disinterested service to his brothers and sisters, a true act of washing the feet of those who lived with him. The classroom was made by him as the place for transmitting a Christian experience of God, not just the space for teaching classes. In this paper, we take the account of John 13, another way to talk about the transfiguration of Jesus, as an exemplary case to deal with Konings' Johannine theology and to indicate some aspects of his life. We take his own works as a starting point, but we also refer to other biblical scholars who follow in the same train of thought of his reflection. More than bibliographical research, this paper is a tribute of gratitude to Johan Konings for everything I learned from him. That‟s the reason for the colloquial tone of the writing and the presence of testimonies about him.
