Abstract

Na Idade Média, não só foram construídas catedrais, mas também foi desenvolvido um sistema escolar extraordinário, criadas as universidades e escritas grandes obras de filosofia, teologia e literatura. O argumento ontológico de Santo Anselmo (1033-1109) confirma a importância e profundidade do pensamento medieval. Este argumento simples é o único que aparece no capítulo 2 do Proslogion. Kant o denominou “argumento ontológico” e nós curiosamente ainda assim o chamamos. Os medievais, simplesmente, o chamavam de “o argumento de Anselmo” (argumentum Anselmi).
