El presente estudio tiene por objeto poner en evidencia la consciente ruptura que operó John Locke respecto del proyecto fi losófi co general precedente. De modo específi co, se propone un examen de la formación de aquellos conceptos fi losófi co políticos centrales, a partir de la Gnoseología lockeana, de la recepción del modelo físico de Demócrito y de la nueva Teología de Locke elaborada sobre la base del modelo de Epicuro. El trasfondo valorativo del as ideas de Locke exigirá ampliar su propio horizonte fi losófi co de modo tal de comparar brevemente sus ideas capitales con las de Tomas de Aquino al que Locke recurre a propósito de su noción de lex naturae.
