Quem falou sobre o assunto foi o reitor da Universidade S\u00e3o Francisco (SP) e diretor da editora Vozes, Prof. Dr. Gilberto Garcia. Desde os prim\u00f3rdios da educa\u00e7\u00e3o nacional que tinha a ver com a evangeliza\u00e7\u00e3o e catequiza\u00e7\u00e3o dos povos ind\u00edgenas at\u00e9 a vota\u00e7\u00e3o durante uma A\u00e7\u00e3o de Constitucionalidade julgada pelo Supremo Tribunal Federal (STF). Para Garcia, um dos imbr\u00f3glios do debate est\u00e1 na falta de conhecimento te\u00f3rico daqueles que elaboram essas pol\u00edticas p\u00fablicas. Segundo ele, h\u00e1 uma dificuldade em fazer uma diferencia\u00e7\u00e3o entre Ensino Religioso e Teologia.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A base epistemol\u00f3gica das Ci\u00eancias da Religi\u00e3o \u00e9 religi\u00e3o entendida como sistema simb\u00f3lico cultural, j\u00e1 a base epistemol\u00f3gica da Teologia \u00e9 a confessionalidade, a doutrina a partir de uma tradi\u00e7\u00e3o, seja ela qual for. Ent\u00e3o, o objetivo das diretrizes (das Ci\u00eancias da Religi\u00e3o) rec\u00e9m-homologadas \u00e9 formar professores para a doc\u00eancia do Ensino Religioso. A diretriz curricular da Ci\u00eancia da Religi\u00e3o chamou para si a responsabilidade de formar professores para o Ensino Religioso&#8221;. Desconhecendo a hist\u00f3ria que levou esses dois rumos \u00e9 que o confronto pode ser deflagrado, n\u00e3o de uma forma contundente, porque isso depende do grau de esclarecimento daqueles que se interessam por essas disputa, mas quanto mais conservador, proselitista, mas vinga essa necessidade de brigar. Quanto mais se pesquisa o entendimento da hist\u00f3ria dos processos, mais fica claro que n\u00e3o precisa ter tensionamentos entre essas \u00e1reas do conhecimento&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>O reitor da Universidade S\u00e3o Francisco remontou o in\u00edcio do sistema educacional brasileiro, quando o Imp\u00e9rio delegou a Igreja as primeira a\u00e7\u00f5es na educa\u00e7\u00e3o, que naquela \u00e9poca se misturavam a evangeliza\u00e7\u00e3o e catequiza\u00e7\u00e3o. &#8220;Os jesu\u00edtas foram pioneiros. De escola (onde se ensinava em qualquer lugar, embaixo de \u00e1rvores&#8230;), eles criaram os col\u00e9gios. E o que \u00e9 que eram col\u00e9gios? a fixa\u00e7\u00e3o do ensino em um s\u00f3 lugar f\u00edsico e com s\u00e9ries e disciplinas: portugu\u00eas, matem\u00e1tica, ci\u00eancias e a catequese. Ent\u00e3o a estabilidade fez com que o sistema jesu\u00edta fosse muito mais veloz e eficaz do que o das outras vis\u00f5es religiosas&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Garcia falou ainda das consequ\u00eancias para o ensino brasileiro da expuls\u00e3o dos jesu\u00edtas, da laiciza\u00e7\u00e3o ocorrida com a proclama\u00e7\u00e3o da Rep\u00fablica e como o Estado brasileiro lidou com isso &#8220;precariamente&#8221;. Segundo ele, durante o Estado Novo, o ensino religioso era facultativo. Em outro momento da explana\u00e7\u00e3o, o pesquisador destacou que uma das atuais dificuldades do debate est\u00e1 ligada a associa\u00e7\u00e3o a quest\u00f5es de g\u00eanero.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Infelizmente, o Ensino Religioso est\u00e1 sendo instrumentalizado por uma outra quest\u00e3o e isso s\u00f3 piorou o problema. Se antes n\u00f3s t\u00ednhamos a quest\u00e3o de ter que ser confessional ou n\u00e3o, agora n\u00e3o temos essa quest\u00e3o&#8221;. Ele concluiu recomendando &#8220;n\u00e3o deixar que essa seara (do embate Teologia x Ci\u00eancias da Religi\u00e3o) migre para as \u00e1reas do conhecimento que n\u00e3o t\u00eam nada a ver porque elas t\u00eam as suas pr\u00f3prias bases epistemol\u00f3gicas e seus interesses de objeto de pesquisa.
